Verdant Regeneration has presented plans to restore the former Stanton Ironworks in Ilkeston, Derbyshire into a new broad warehouse and industrial park. The firm is aimed at transforming the 200-acre area situated near J25 of the M1 between Ilkeston and Nottingham. They are set to build a 2m sq ft of new build industrial and warehouse space, with the ability to create a single structure of around 1 million sq ft.

The New Stanton Park plans will also bring back the use of the railway line while constructing the 2 million sq ft of industrial area. The New Stanton Park rail has a direct connection to the midland mainline becoming a key distribution point for items being exported and imported efficiently in the UK and beyond.

One of the largest regeneration schemes in the area.

The New Stanton Park space has been identified by Erewash Borough Council as a significant section in their long-term plans to redevelop the area. Verdant Regeneration will closely work with the Erewash Council and the stakeholders involved to develop an environmentally friendly site that alongside also brings a regeneration. The plan can be met by developing New Stanton Park with a mixed-tenure of industrial and commercial developments thus offering much employment to the area while utilising the excellent and existing local workforce.

Verdant Regeneration’s David Grier stated: “Having possessed the site in 2020, we have worked hard with the team to faster bring forward an outline planning application on what will be one of the largest regeneration schemes within the area. “New Stanton Park is located on a excellent strategic area, blending an active rail link with a great private and public transport connection, enough labour and high power supply. “When combined, we are assured that this will result in a highly successful project with the next chapter set to highly transform and improve the location, in the process, bringing forward large-scale job creation.”
