Baltic East wind farm has secured key offshore transmission permits through developer Orlen Neptun. These permits allow for the development of the submarine cables and offshore substation infrastructure that will connect the future 1 GW wind farm to the national grid. This progressive permit also marks a significant milestone in Poland’s expanding offshore wind sector.
The newly granted transmission permits also signals the overcoming of major regulatory hurdles for Baltic East. It also signals the project’s advancement toward engineering, financial structuring, and eventual construction.
Located on the Slupsk Bank in the Baltic Sea, Baltic East is being developed by Orlen Neptun, a subsidiary of the Orlen Group. This is a standalone project separate from Baltic Power offshore wind farm, the 1.2 GW joint venture between Orlen and Canada’s Northland Power.

What to Expect of the Baltic East Offshore Wind Project
The project continues to strengthen Poland’s ambition to install 11 GW of offshore wind by 2040, contributing to regional energy security. Baltic East offshore wind project also complements Orlen’s Baltic Power project. And, with transmission permits secured, Orlen Neptun is now positioned among the country’s more advanced offshore developers.
The project now expects more approvals henceforth. These include environmental approval for turbine placement, supply-chain capacity, and long-term power offtake arrangements.
