The company AME GmbH is since 1980 one of the leading manufacturers in Europe of machinery and equipment for the production of concrete hollow block stones, full blocks, paving stones and curb stones.

Design, engineering, production and test run of all our machines are done in their office and factory in Deutschlandsberg, Austria.

The newly developed vibration technology is the heart of the machine and up to 8 servo motors are used to ensure the highest stone compaction and good quality of the final product. Both, mobile and stationary machines for production of concrete blocks are manufactured in AME GmbH.

AME GmbH provides stationary and mobile equipment with various outputs options. The stationary lines include the machine AMEthyst 1000, AMEthyst 1300, AMEthyst 1500 and AMEthyst 2000. Egg layers machines are: FBS 120, FBH 1200 and WSB 1000.

AME GmbH offers also machines for “green products” these create economic benefits, conservation of resources during operation of the plants. It is an important part of the AME GmbH corporate philosophy. Examples include machinery for producing ecological wood concrete blocks or ICB – Insulated Concrete Blocks for minimization of heating and electricity costs.

They offer, depending on your needs, from entry level to high-performance machines from one hand. From planning to completion of your production facility, we accompany you during all stages of the project.

AME GmbH guarantees their customers consistent quality and proven reliability, high system availability and long-term supply of spare parts. The company AME GmbH is your best partner for concrete stone production equipment.

Construction Review conducted an interview with AME GmbH Sales Director, Leonhard Lückl on why Africa should embrace block making machines in construction.

1.How does AME GmbH see the African block making machine market?

It’s a big market for AME, now and for the future especially now we have footprints and market shares in Africa in countries like Algeria, Lybia, Nigeria, Egypt. We are also looking forward to penetrate more in other African countries where our products can be readily available whenever needed, though meanwhile our products can be purchased via a dealer or directly. So far we have sold mobile and stationary machines, for the hollow block, paving stone and curb production to the African market.

2.Are there any new technologies in the market?

Yes for recycling materials, Waste such as wood, concrete, clay bricks, etc. We also offer products that are of permanent quality and high reliability. Long-term supply of high quality spare parts

3.Why and how should Africa embrace block making machines in construction?

To introduce better technology and good quality machines such as:

AMEthyst 1000

The AMEthyst 1000 stationary block machine is the entry model for the stationary manufacture of concrete products on production boards. This modular machine may be extended with a face concrete unit. This allows products with a coarse base concrete to be faced off with a fine layer of face concrete (can also be coloured).

The production board is transported at right angles to the machine to facilitate an extremely space-saving plant layout.

AMEthyst 1300

The AMEthyst 1300 model is used for the stationary manufacture of concrete products on production boards. The concept of this machine is similar to the AMEthyst 1000, however this machine is significantly heavier and supports shorter cycle times and taller products.

AMEthyst 1500 HS

The AMEthyst 1500 HS model is used for the stationary manufacture of concrete products on production boards. The concept of this machine is similar to the AMEthyst 1300, however this machine is significantly more compact and supports shorter cycle times and taller products. In this plant, the production boards are guided longitudinally through the machine.

AMEthyst 1500 QS

The AMEthyst 1500 QS model is used for the stationary manufacture of concrete products on production boards. The concept of this machine is similar to the AMEthyst 1300, however this machine is significantly more compact and supports shorter cycle times and taller products. In this plant, the production boards are routed across the machine.

AMEthyst 2000

The AMEthyst 2000 model is used for the stationary manufacture of concrete products on production boards. The machine is fitted as standard with a silo for coarse concrete and face concrete. The production boards are transported in a lengthwise direction to the machine. The entire coarse concrete and face concrete filling unit is height-adjustable. It is located above the vibration table. The vibration table itself is decoupled from the machine. This prevents vibrations being transmitted to the machine.

4.What are the challenges in the African market in terms of application?

Better quality and higher performance of the equipment. AME offers you an extensive maintenance concept in order to provide the necessary services in the shortest possible time and at the lowest possible cost

5.What do you think can be done to overcome these challenges?

International financial assistance to handle better for larger projects. It is also important to us to maintain contact with our customers throughout the entire lifespan of the plant or machine to ensure the availability of our maintenance teams and the entire scope of our services. Our central service centre as the contact point for all service and maintenance activities and offers a range of highly available systems, which serve to coordinate all service and maintenance activities and support their customers and staff in rendering services.

6.How is the future looking for block making machines in Africa?

Very good because there is already great interest for good building materials, big investments in the construction sector. For a customer in Middle East they have designed and build a product handling system for this brick production plant. Brick handling is adapted from our trusted AME product transport and handling in order to accommodate the requirements of the customer.

A complete production plant for wood-chip concrete blocks and ICB. First wood-chips are produced from all all sorts of furniture. Later these are mixed with minerals and concrete and pressed into blocks of various forms. After curing they are precisely cut. The resulting waste is reintroduced into the production process.

At the start of each project the desired capacity, product versatility and space requirements of the plant are determined with the customer. With all this information a suitable layout is planned and the required time determined. The whole project is coordinated by qualified supervisor.
