Exclusive Interview with Özgür Toker, Fiberli Export Director. Fiberli was the first Turkish company to apply as a manufacturer of fiber optic lighting system in Turkey. It was founded in Antalya in 1991 and was initially focused on the field of Professional Sound and Light.

In which countries can your products be found in Africa and how can a potential client go about purchasing?
Our products can be found all across in North and Central Africa regions. Lately we have shifted our focus to South Africa region and we are currently trying to establish business co-operations and partnerships in that area. Potential clients can contact us and we can direct them to our authorized dealers in their country, if there is none we can supply products directly
What are the new technologies with regards to LED lighting?
The LED is a developing light source technology. Light emitting properties, electrical properties, thermal properties, mounting properties, light quality properties (CCT consistency, CRI) of LED are constantly evolving. Nowadays, with the high-technology of LED, the luminaire efficiency values have risen to 140-150 lumen watt for the marketable fixtures. Also, the luminaire efficiencies of the fixtures that are economically more accessible in the market,exceeded 100 lumen watt limit. Driver efficiency is also increasing and optical options are virtually unlimited. It is possible to develop different optical solutions for each application area.
As an alternative, the unattended integrated systems produced by the DOB (Driver on Board) method have begun to take place in the market. We see more automation and IOT applications are developing in a fast pace. Standalone systems are evolving by processing data that are collected by sensors. As a result, smart Home, smart building, smart factory, smart city with smart parks, streets even parkinglot applications are being developed. Softwares, hardwares and lighting fixtures are becoming available not only for lighting but also for internet access or for marketing purposes.
What are your other products sold in Africa?
We are working project based mostly, so our top selling products in Africa includes Street Luminaries, Façade Lighting and Projectors. However, since we have a large business partner network, there are various other product types we sell through them including; Marine Lighting, Decorative Lighting, Landscape Lighting and Indoor Lighting
What are the factors to consider when selecting LED lighting for indoors and outdoors purposes?
First of all you should look out for the quality parameters of the product such as;
Body material (aluminuminjection / extrusion), Diffusermaterial (PC / Cam),
PCB (correctly designed fo rvoltage drops or current limitations), LED (selected from narrow binning intervals, where qualified manufacturers can provide reliable technical data and provide catalog data)
All product components must be tested and reported. LVD (LowVoltage Directive) mustalso be tested and reported. All the components should be photometrically measured, they should pass mechanical strength tests and thermal tests. All test and measurement results must be reported as well.
For outdoor applications, the products must have an IP certificate regarding the product requirements and must be assembled in accordance with the product installation instructions with a prior installation prep.
Another issue to look for is service quality that a company offers
The product must be absolutely guaranteed, and the warranty policy must cover the driver as well.
The manufacturer must have an after-sales service and guarantee department.
There must be a customer satisfaction policy that is applied in real World, not just mentioned on a company website. LDT files and documentation on products must be available when necessary.
Lastly, company should be able to offer and provide support for product planning, project design, visualization, render services for your projects.
