Steven Miller is an architect and urban planner with more than 48 years of experience in design, design management, and construction administration for architectural, planning, and infrastructure projects. A specialist in urban design, hotel planning, international sustainable building design, and residential design (luxury to affordable), he is also an experienced real estate investment planner, particularly in the MENA, South Asia, and Central and Eastern Europe international markets.
A longtime Fellow of the AIA, Miller is the founder of the organization’s Middle East Chapter and serves as its Fellowship Director. He is also a member of the MENA Region Board of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
A past President and Board member of the AIA Continental Europe Chapter, Miller is the international Fellows Representative to the College of Fellows and is on the International Committee Advisory Board, where he is the future Chairman of this committee for 2012.
In addition to the MIPIM and Cityscape awards, his developments in Prague have won a ULI award for the Best International Development for 1999, two MIPIM Design Awards, an AIA Design Award, numerous local design awards, and two Jean-Louis Solal Awards from ICSC for European marketing.
A frequent guest lecturer, critic, and jury member at universities in the United States, Italy, and the Czech Republic, Miller is also an active speaker at conferences worldwide, most recently speaking on affordable housing design in the MENA region.
Joining Perkins
Miller is currently the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) Regional Manager for Perkins Eastman a top international design and architecture growing practice in the Africa. As part of an international management team, Miller oversees the firm’s projects and growth in the MENA region.
Miller joined with more than 48 years of experience in architecture, design management, and construction administration for planning and infrastructure. He is a specialist in urban design, hotel planning, and residential design, as well as an experienced real estate investment planner—leveraging a deep understanding of the issues that drive development and the elements that make it successful. His experience spans the globe and is concentrated in international markets including the MENA region, South Asia, and Central and Eastern Europe.

Prior to joining Perkins Eastman, Miller served as the Regional Director and the Managing Director for both Kohn Pederson Fox and FXFowle, as well as Planning and Design Consultants, a firm he founded. He is a past President of the AIA Continental Europe Chapter, as well as the international Fellows Representative to the College of Fellows and is the future Chairman of the AIA International Committee Advisory Board.
