The Gradall XL3100 IV hydraulic excavator is now updated with a wheeled undercarriage that can be driven at highway speeds and is equipped with a six-speed AutoDriveâ„¢ Allison automatic transmission.
The AutoDrive system allows the operator to drive at speeds up to 60 mph, which eliminates the need for a lowboy trailer. This also allows for governments and contractors to arrive at jobsites faster. Operators can reposition the machine from the upper cab around jobsites and over roadside ditches.
Gradall’s hydraulic system has an adjustable joystick system in which operators can opt to use Gradall, Deere or SAE control patterns via an in-cab switch. This allows all excavator operators to use a pattern they are most familiar with.
The series IV models introduce a new high-visibility yellow paint scheme with red and black accents, replacing the grey scheme with red and black accents on Gradall machines.
For exceptional power, XL 3100 IV excavators unveil a 245-horsepower Tier 4i Mercedes engine that meets the latest EPA standards. The single engine is designed to efficiently and cost-effectively power the excavator on the highway or while repositioning around job sites from the upper cab.
The same engine also powers the upperstructure boom, including swing motions as well as the famous Gradall telescoping, tilting boom movements. The advanced hydraulic system has pressure-compensated, load-sensing valves with reliefs on all circuits.
This system delivers the right amount of hydraulic power to the boom, allowing for better cost-efficiency while performing jobs such as: conventional excavator digging, demolition and barrier placement, sloping, finishing, storm and canal cleanup and tree trimming.
A variety of attachments are available, which can be ordered and shipped with the excavator, such as: boom extensions; grapples; excavating, ditch, trenching, dredging and pavement removal buckets. The machine can also be equipped with an auxiliary circuit to power hydraulic hammers, augers, mowers and more. Attachments are easily interchangeable with Gradall’s quick-change attachment design.
Maximum boom reach is 27 feet, 3 inches (8.3 m) at grade, while maximum dig depth is 18 feet, 4 inches (5.6 m). Loading height maximum is 15 feet, 5 inches (4.7 m).. Rated bucket force is 17,900 lbs (80 kN) while the telescoping boom crowd force is 21,940 lbs (97.6 kN). Unlike conventional excavators, the telescoping boom forces are constant through the entire dig cycle.
XL 3100 IV models also have high-performance, high-reliability 24-volt electrical system and new high-visibllity LED lighting and a compact tail swing that allows the machine to be more productive than ever on roadside jobs without obstructing traffic.
Over 80% of the service parts on all current Gradall machine are interchangeable, simplifying inventory processes to assure normal service parts are available.
