Hilary Construction, a South-African based construction specialist has recently adopted the latest smart compaction technology which will be used to back their efforts in building high standard roads.
The company has been enabled to build precise and compact each layer of a road to specifications without risking variances due to geological changes by Ammann AcePro (ASC110D) a high-tech smart compactor from ELB Equipment.
The precise compaction of under layers thus translates to a significant extension in roads’ lifespan. It also ensures a safer and more comfortable driving surface for vehicles.
The precision and efficiency with which this works has been attributed to the machine’s in-built system that is reliant on an array of sensors to accurately measure ground conditions up to 350mm deep.
Hilary Construction’s operations director Trevor Freestone lauds the time saving feature of the machine, highlighting its ability to do so by achieving the required rate of compaction in fewer passes and upon requirement can provide a printout upon achievement of the compaction rate.
This enables them deliver the best results for new road construction as well as the rehabilitation of old ones where useful in cases where they’re unaware of either the makeup of condition of underlying layers.
The AcePro is also able to detect areas which had patching or additions and adjust to compact them perfectly.
It is for this sole reason that the Ammann AcePro could be quite the revolutionary machine for our roads. The increase in number of heavy trucks on the roads requires a constant change in road construction as well as maintenance in order to support their weight and high tyre pressures.
