The Electrical Contractors’ Association of South Africa ECA (SA) is a charitable organization with the emphasis to serve the industry and only generate resources to sustain it.

It is a registered employer body registered in terms of the Labour Relations Act. Instituted in 1950, the ECA (SA) embodies members and their interests in the labour Relations sector and in the technical and regulatory mechanisms governing the Electrical Industry.

The membership of the ECA includes roughly 3000 electrical contractors, manufacturers and distributors of electrical components and equipment.

The membership is made of over 50% of employers in the industry that in turn employs over 70% of the industries employees. With offices in the key centres throughout South Africa, the ECA is well positioned to offer a wide variety of vital services designed to assist contractors and allow them to offer their clients work that is guaranteed, competitive, professional and safe.

ECA provides constant advisory and support services on matters such as technical, labour relations, legal, contractual and marketing. Additionally, the ECA offers a wide range of training products for electricians, learners and contractors.

In order to become a member of the Electrical Contractors’ Association of South Africa ECA (SA) the following is required:

The ‘Guarantee or Work’ applies to all electrical installation work undertaken by member firms, but does not apply to contracts which are already regulated by standard forms of contract or subcontract which already provide for rectifying defects.
