Persons interested to join Association of South African Quantity Surveyors(ASAQS) will find the necessary information on this page. The new membership categories enable a person with suitable experience to join as an Associate Member.

PROFESSIONAL MEMBER – PMAQS:
To become a registered PMAQS with the ASAQS the applicant must first be registered and in good standing with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP) as a PrQS.
Registered persons with The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in either the Fellow or Member categories (FRICS/ MRICS) will need to first register with the SACQSP as a PrQS to be granted admission into the PMAQS category of the Association. If in custody of an MRICS or FRICS certificate, these prospective members will still be immediately eligible for the MAQS category of membership with the Association.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS IF APPLYING FOR (PMAQS) MEMBERSHIP
• Copies of qualifications
• Copy of your Identification Document
• Proof of payment if paying via EFT/Direct deposit
• PRQS certificate
• Letter of good standing from the SACQSP

2. MEMBER – MAQS:

Any person with one of the following qualifications: B Sc (QS) (Hons) / Construction Management B Sc (QS) / Construction Management B Tech (QS) / Construction Management National Higher Diploma in Building (discontinued 1995)

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS IF APPLYING FOR (MAQS) MEMBERSHIP
• Copies of qualifications and certificates (Candidate Certificate if registered with the SACQSP)
• Copy of your Identification Document
• Proof of Payment if paying via EFT/Direct deposit
• SAQA Accreditation (If qualifications are International)

3. ASSOCIATE MEMBER – AAQS:

Any person with one of the following qualifications: National Diploma in Building QCP Certificate (240 credits) (from the UFS) CSBS Certificate (120 credits) (from the UFS) 3-year post matriculation qualification 2-year post matriculation qualification 1-year post matriculation qualification or at the discretion of the Membership Committee if the person has had a number of years approved experience in the Building Industry

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS IF APPLYING FOR (AAQS) MEMBERSHIP
• Copies of qualifications
• Copy of your Identification Document
• Proof of Payment if paying via EFT/Direct deposit
• SAQA Accreditation (If qualifications are International)

4. FIRMS/PRACTICE
Any person who is registered as a PRQS and is in good standing with the SACQSP can register a practice. Practices registrations are done online from the menu rail above.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS IF APPLYING FOR FIRM/PRACTICE MEMBERSHIP
• Copy of SACQSP PrQS certificate
• Company Letterhead with name of Firm to be registered
• Copy of Identity Document for individual registering the Firm/Practice
• Proof of payment if paying via EFT/Direct deposit
• Letter of good standing from the SACQSP
• CIPC (Cipro) Documents

5. STUDENT ASSOCIATE – SAAQS:
Any student studying a relevant and approved qualification.
NB: Student Registrants do not require to submit any form of payment or supporting documents

ONLINE REGISTRATION

Pre-requisite for becoming a member of the Association is that the applicant should be in possession of an acceptable qualification from a tertiary institution in the field related to the Quantity Surveying profession. Provided this pre-requisite is satisfied, then the procedure to be followed to become a member of the Association is a relatively speedy and simple process.
