RWE has won two new onshore wind projects in the latest in the French renewable market government auction round. RWE won the Balinot project in the Oise department in the Hauts-de-France region and the Langonnet project in Brittany’s Morbihan department, totaling 21.6 MW. Both projects were awarded under the 10th onshore wind tender in France’s multi-annual energy program (PPE2). PPE2 allocated 952.8 MW of capacity across 42 projects nationwide at an average tariff of €86.6 per MWh.
The new awards also highlight the German utility’s continued momentum in France’s renewable sector. This follows recent tender wins earlier in 2025 that brought its total awarded capacity to over 170 MW of onshore wind and 19.6 MWac of solar in the country. The wind farm developer also concurrently finished installation of all recyclable blades and over 60% of the 100 turbines at Sofia offshore project in the UK.

Outlook on RWE Securing Two New Onshore Wind Projects in France, Balinot and Langonnet
France’s onshore wind program continues to attract global players amid a push to double renewable capacity under the national PPE2 framework. The two new onshore wind farm projects secured by RWE also help in its goal of reaching a balanced 50/50 mix between solar and wind assets across Europe by 2030.
Balinot and Langonnet wind farms in France expect to advance through development and permitting stages in 2026, with RWE likely progressing with construction within three years. Their inclusion under France’s long-term regulated framework also ensures predictable revenue flow once they are operational.
