Sunraycer Renewables LLC, a leading developer, owner, and operator of clean energy facilities, today celebrated the groundbreaking for its Lupinus I & II Solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Hagansport, Texas. The company also confirmed that construction is actively progressing on the nearby Eagle Springs Solar & BESS project in Lake Creek, Texas.
The Lupinus I & II development represents a significant addition to Texas’ renewable portfolio, delivering a combined 520 MWdc of solar photovoltaic capacity paired with 411 MWh of onsite battery storage. This hybrid setup will enable reliable, dispatchable clean power, helping stabilize the grid amid growing demand in the ERCOT market. Groundbreaking for Lupinus I & II occurred in March 2026, with full completion and commercial operations anticipated in early 2028.
Eagle Springs project
Meanwhile, the Eagle Springs project adds 100 MWdc of solar generation and 66 MWh of battery storage. Construction is already underway, with commercial operations expected by late 2026. Together, these initiatives underscore Sunraycer’s commitment to scaling utility-scale renewables in Northeast Texas.
“Breaking ground on Lupinus I & II and advancing Eagle Springs marks a pivotal moment for Sunraycer and the communities we serve,” said David Lillefloren, CEO of Sunraycer (referencing related statements from project partnerships). “These projects will deliver substantial new energy capacity, create hundreds of construction and operational jobs, and support local economies through partnerships and tax revenue—all while accelerating Texas’ transition to sustainable energy.
“The projects build on Sunraycer’s earlier collaborations, including agreements with e-STORAGE (a Canadian Solar subsidiary) for advanced SolBank 3.0 battery systems. Previous announcements in 2025 and early 2026 highlighted supply deals for up to 503 MWh in standalone storage across related Lupinus phases. Ensuring high-performance, long-term reliability with 10-year service commitments.
Economic Impact
Located in rural Franklin and Delta Counties, the developments are expected to generate employment during peak construction and provide ongoing benefits through landowner leases and community investments. They align with Texas’ leadership in solar and storage deployment, addressing intermittency challenges and enhancing energy security.
As Texas continues to lead the U.S. in renewable growth, Sunraycer’s latest milestones highlight the state’s role in driving the national clean energy economy forward.
The launch of Sunraycer’s Lupinus I & II projects in Texas reflects continued investment in large-scale renewable energy infrastructure, a trend mirrored in New Jersey where the Garden State Reliability Battery Storage Project is being advanced to reinforce grid performance in the Northeast.
In another major renewable energy advance, rPlus Energies secured more than $650 million in financing for its 520 MWdc Blacks Creek solar project in Idaho. The facility will supply clean power to Meta’s expanding Kuna data center, illustrating how developers across the country are scaling utility-scale solar to meet growing AI-driven demand and grid requirements.
