Vinci has a portfolio of around 30,000 projects per year around the world ranging from mining, environment, oil and gas, renewable and nuclear energy, water infrastructure, and transport infrastructure. The company was founded in 1899 and has its headquarters in Rueil-Malmaison, France.
ACS Group boasts of global operations both in the construction and infrastructure development industries. The company, which is based in Spain, generated €36.5 billion in revenue in 2019 from its civil and industrial projects. Bouygues is also a French company and one of the top 10 construction companies in Europe. The company has worked on projects like the Gibraltar Thermal Power Plant, the Hong Kong Trade & Industry Tower, and the Channel Tunnel. The company reported a turnover of €32.9 billion and €35.5 billion in 2017 and 2018 respectively. Bouygues was started in 1952 by Francis Bouygues and currently has more than 47,000 employees in five continents.
In 2017, Skanska reported strong performance in building in the Nordics as well as the United States. The company has however reported weaker results in the U.K and Poland leading to annual revenue of £18.1bn in 2018. Based in Sweden, the company has several projects ranging from public buildings, power generation, aviation, and infrastructure.
Following two years of losing in profits, Skanska has initiated measures to regain its profitability including restructuring its business in Poland as well as exiting the power industry in the U.S.
This is another French-based company with annual revenues of €16.9 billion as of 2018. Eiffage has its headquarters in Asnières-sur-Seine and has operations in 50 countries around the world. Among the projects that the company has worked on include a rail project for Deutsche Bahn in Germany, a Polish branch of the Hilton Hotel in Warsaw, the Burbo Bank offshore wind farm, an electrical sub-station, and the Chirec hospital in Belgium.
Based in Viena, Austria, Strabag has total revenue of €15.2bn and has employed more than 71,000 workers. In company handles projects ranging from transportation infrastructure, civil engineering, and construction of tunnels. Strabag has three main branches with the first segment managing operations in Poland, Scandinavia, Germany, and the Benelux countries. This branch mainly handles offshore wind and hydraulic engineering. Another branch is in charge of railway construction in countries like Russia, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, and Switzerland. Finally, the company has an international wing that mainly focuses on tunneling, properties, infrastructure, and materials.
With its headquarters in Spain, Ferrovial has more than 50 years of international construction activities in 50 countries across five continents. The company is currently working on more than 780 projects. Ferrovial reported revenues of €12.21bn in 2017. The company has more than 75,000 employees in countries like the United States, the UK, Chile, Canada, Greece, Switzerland, Ireland, and Portugal.
At position eight is London-based Balfour Beatty with total revenue of €8.1bn in 2019. Despite a drop in revenue from €8.4bn in 2018, the company still managed to perform among the top 10 European construction companies. According to Balfour Beatty’s CEO Leo Quinn, the company is repositioning itself to drive sustainable growth.

Sweden-based NCC AB closes the list of the top 10 construction companies in Europe. The construction company has more than 30 years of operation in the industry.
