Canada is a huge country and it is developing quickly with lots of construction projects under development. In this article we look at the top ten construction companies in Canada, contributing to this sector which accounts for approximately 7 percent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).

PCL construction 

Founded in Saskatchewan by James Martin and Ernest Edward Poole in 1906, today PCL Construction employs more than 4,000 workers and has offices in Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, and Australia.

The company runs parallel operations in Canada and the United States working subcontractors in the civil, transportation, and building sectors. Some of its key projects include the Los Angeles International Airport Modernization, Veterans Memorial Bridge in Florida, Tarrant County College Energy Technology Center, Chicago Motor Club – Hampton Inn, and Maggie Daley Park among others.

Traced back to Saskatchewan in 1920, Bird has been a leading force in the Canadian construction market for more than 100 years now. With more than 1,500 workers, its work is focused on sectors such as energy, mining, institutional, retail, residential, and civil construction.

Notable recent projects include the construction of the Whitby Rail Maintenance Facility and the Avenir Centre.
