Construction works are ongoing on Lekki Regional Roads in Lagos, which will decongest traffic within the Lekki sub-region by providing access to Victoria Garden City (VGC), Ikate-Elegushi, Ikota, Chevron Drive, Ajiran, Pinnock Beach Estate, Gracefield Island, Orange Island and serve as an alternative to the Eti Osa-Epe Expressway.
This was revealed by Mrs. Aramide Adeyoye, the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Works and Infrastructure, during an inspection of the said project. Adeyoye explained that the 8.75-kilometer road, comprising a 500 meters bridge, 251 meters interchange, 50 meters bicycle lane, and an adjoining 500 meters road is 23.56 percent complete.
Work done so far on the Lekki Regional Road
With Messrs Hi-Tech Construction Company Ltd, one of the leading Building & Civil Engineering Contractors in Nigeria as the contractor, some of the work done to date include piling works and construction of pedestrian bridges as well as sand filling dredging on the road alignment.

“Several large pilling rings are ready as well as the pile reinforcement cages that are to be used in foundation works for the bridge signals (the earnest commencement of the bride components of the project),” explained the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu adding that the project is “a precursor to the proposed Fourth Mainland Bridge whose construction works will begin in first quarter 2022.”
Contractor to work around the clock for timely delivery of the project
The Managing Director of Hitech Construction Company Ltd, Mr. Danny Abboud, said that the firm had been working round the clock since they moved to the site and will continue the same so as to deliver the project on schedule.
The Lekki Regional Road project was awarded in May last year (2020) while the construction works began 3 months later (in August 2020), and was billed for completion in 22 Months, i.e., June 2022.
