Muthaiga Golf Club has invited international hotel chains to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for construction and management of a five-star hotel. The hotel is expected to be complete by 2017.
The club has set aside 2 acres of land out of the total 81.8 acres for construction of the new USD 64.5m hotel. The hotel will have 200 rooms, a business centre, conference centre with two ballrooms, sports courts, a spa with treatment rooms, kids and teens club, a fitness centre and food and beverage outlets.
The hotel will be strategically located to meet the demands of business travelers frequenting Nairobi. The hotel is being developed under the design-finance-build-operate and transfer (BOOT) model due to the large amount of money required actualizing the project.
The move to construct the hotel in the course was informed by the number of multinationals who have set up their regional offices in Nairobi and the growing number of business travelers.
Muthaiga Golf Club ‘the Home of Golf’ is located in the leafy suburb of Muthaiga, through the Karura forest. It’s a club where most of its members are the elite class of Kenya with a number of lakes and ponds.
In the recent past, the club has been in the process of modernizing the course to make it more appealing to members. The hotel will be a plus to its efforts in diversification.
