Ghana housing plans is set to settle on large scale housing projects as the solution to end the long battle of inadequate housing in the country. This was said by the Water Resources Works and Housing Minister, Dr Kwaku Agyeman-Mensah during the 34th Shelter Afrique’s Annual meeting.
In his opinion the rapid shift in demographic and urbanization trends will also help other than sticking to old methods which bore no fruit at the beginning, as Shelter Afrique is an organization that aims at boosting people’s live.
According to the Minister, Ghana housing challenge has been given a priority by the government of Ghana as it is as well focused on reviewing the Rent Act and implement on its effectiveness to protect its citizens from arbitrary rent increases.
However, the government is also looking forward to partnering with the private sector in providing affordable rented house, mortgage facilities and those wishing to own their own homes. In fact, the country has much benefitted from the time it became a Shelter Afrique member and according to Minister Dr Agyeman-Mensah there is opportunity for more given that he Chaired the Annual General Meeting organized by the Shelter Afrique.
