The $348.5M USF on-campus football stadium is gradually advancing as the project unveils its latest renderings. In a post on social media, USF Athletics shared a video of the stadium renderings. It features a look at stadium seats, a rooftop deck and premium seating areas that includes club seats and suites. It also entails two types of box seating, all of which cater to a range of fans and donors.
Once complete, the project will bring USF football to a permanent home on campus for the very first time. For a program that has spent decades playing its home games off-site, the rising iron skeleton represents a critical shift in the institution’s identity.
Latest renderings show the stadium will have a rooftop deck, over 2,000 club seats, and also a massive student section. The USF football stadium is expected to open in fall 2027. Crews broke ground on the facility in November 2024, and construction is now visibly underway. Another major football stadium that is anxiously anticipated is the $3bn Chicago Bears stadium.
The NFL team aims to construct a new $3bn stadium in the city despite the plan being proposed three years ago. However, Bears CEO Kevin Warren has said the team will have a decision on new stadium plans by “late spring, early summer.” The Bears are planning to provide the NFL with an update on their future plans at the league’s meeting.
Outlook on the USF On-Campus Football Stadium
The USF on-campus football stadium is expected to seat 35,000 fans once complete, giving the Bulls a permanent home. University officials say the venue is on track to open in time for the 2027 football season. Moreover, central to the project is the TGH Center for Athletic Excellence, a sprawling 150,000 square-foot facility. It is designed to serve a comprehensive anchor for the university’s football program.
The complex will house coaching offices, specialized physician and sports medicine spaces. It will also include state-of-the-art weight rooms. Beyond football, the stadium is expected to serve as a multi-purpose venue for concerts, university events and other gatherings.
Though the initial seating capacity is set at 35,000, university officials noted that design and structural upgrades have already been incorporated into the current phase of construction. This will allow for potential future stadium expansions beyond that baseline.
