On September 10, 2025, AVAIO Digital Partners officially begun construction on a $6 billion Taurus Data Center Campus in Brandon, Mississippi, an AI-ready development designed to anchor the Southeast’s growing role in cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure. The 329-acre campus is planned as a multi-phased project, with its first facilities being online in the first half of 2027. This milestone followed the execution of an Agreement for Electric Service with Entergy in August 2025. Mississippi-based Yates Construction is the general contractor for the project.

A Landmark Project for Mississippi

The Taurus campus will anchor the region’s growing status in the digital economy. Its first phase will deliver more than 600,000 square feet of purpose-built data center space, with 116 megawatts of power capacity. Later phases will masterplan the campus into a large-scale facility for hyperscale, cloud, and AI customers. It sets the sate on the path to competing for a greater piece of the data center investment pie that several states are competing for.

Thousands of skilled professionals and tradespersons will be engaged throughout the multi-year construction.

Responsible and Resilient Design

Sustainability is a guiding principle of the Taurus campus. The team is conducting grading and land clearing with environmental mitigation strategies in place, and plans irrigation improvements to boost resiliency. Water-conserving systems, rainwater harvesting, and natural landscape buffers will be part of the development, ensuring that the project is addressing growth needs while being a good steward of the environment.

A Commitment to Community

“Breaking ground in Brandon represents a huge milestone, and we’re excited to invest in Mississippi,” AVAIO Digital CEO Mark McComiskey stated. “State and local business and government officials have engaged with us and provided support from the very beginning. This will help us realize our vision of building world-class, 21st-century infrastructure in Mississippi. We feel honored to work together on an effort that will bring long-term dividends to the community.”

Taurus Data Center Campus in Mississippi: Looking Ahead

Once operational, the Taurus Data Center Hub will strengthen Mississippi’s position in the technology sector. It will bring advanced digital infrastructure to the Southeast while generating jobs and opportunities for local communities. With construction underway and partnerships in place, the development is also positioned to become a flagship campus in the next wave of cloud and AI-driven growth.

Mississippi is rapidly becoming a hub for the data center industry, a trend supported by recent major investments from tech giants. The state’s Governor, Tate Reeves, and other officials are branding the region as the “Digital Delta” to highlight this growth. The most recent announcement comes from Amazon Web Services (AWS), which plans to invest $3 billion to develop a new data center campus in Vicksburg.

This follows AWS’s previous commitment in January 2024 to invest at least $10 billion in data center campuses in Madison County. These investments represent some of the largest capital projects in Mississippi’s history, with the AWS Vicksburg project alone being the largest single investment in Warren County’s history. Other billion-dollar data center investments cropping out in the United States include Applied Digital’s AI data center, raking a whooping $1.5 billion dollars.
