On August 29th, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport ushered in a new chapter in its storied history. With the excitement of a proud Texan unveiling their prized barbecue recipe, CEO Sean Donohue announced the start of the Terminal C renovation – a project that’s been simmering longer than a pot of chili at a tailgate party. This isn’t just a fresh coat of paint; we’re talking about a full-on makeover that’ll turn heads faster than a cowboy on a mechanical bull. For travelers, it’s like finding out your favorite honky-tonk is getting a VIP section – same great tunes, but now with a touch of glamour.
Phase 1: Launching DFW Forward
For DFW Aiport the wall-breaking ceremony was more than a symbolic event as it signals the launch of its Terminal C remodeling. The remodel started with a mural depicting the terminal’s 1970s interior, splashed all over one side. Images of the improved terminal were cut into this mural as an indication of sweeping changes that would be made to older versions. The incident also started the launch of DFW Forward โ a 9-billion-dollar capital improvement program consisting over more than 180 projects in several regions throughout the airport.
What’s Coming to Terminal C The Terminal C makeover, which DFW Airport has now begun, is part of an overhaul to improve what has long been the busiest and oldest terminal at the airport. Key changes include:
800 Added Glass Windows to Previous 400+ Columns: A new generation of windows that will provide unprecedented visibility and more natural light
Raised Roof: The roof over the concourse will be raised more than 20 feet, allowing for a much wider and open feel.
Contemporary Facilities: The update will incorporate new shops, eateries as well as new lounges, check-in areas and renovated washrooms.
