The Tanzania Portland Cement Ltd (TPCC) has embarked on conducting training for more than 1,000 block makers across the Lake Zone. The move is aimed at helping the block makers produce blocks according to standards requirements.

Mr Simon Delens who is the Director of TPCC said the series of seminars will finally make it possible for block makers to make quality materials for the rising demand in the country’s construction sector.

The Director added that Twiga Cement will continue to carry out related training for block makers all through the country as part of its efforts to increase alertness in the industry on key topics such as safety and quality.

He says the construction sector in Tanzania is booming and this calls for the significance of ensuring knowledge is shared among different players in the industry to improve quality of the products available in the market.

Mr Emmanuel Owoya the Company’s Application Engineer said the block makers need to be well conversant on precise issues that lead to development of their business quality being of supreme importance.

He said the block manufacturing and business has grown tremendously in the Lake Zone which makes it vital for the consumers to ensure value for their money  through supply of quality materials including blocks.

Mr Emmanuel Owoya said many of the blocks manufactured by business groups are not in the suggested quality and standards but through a sequence of these programmers they hope to start realizing the difference.

The Tanzania Portland Cement Commercial (TPCC) has been the major cement manufacture and producer in Tanzania with a manufacturing capacity of about 2 million tons annually.
