The Russian Bitcoin mining solutions provider, BitCluster has stated that it has set plans of building a 120MW BitCluster Ethiopian Data Center. This move is foreseen to set the African country as a key player in the global Bitcoin mining sector. The data center shall be based at the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa and shall cover a total area of 30,000 square meters.

This major data center project by BitCluster in Ethiopia will be of an advantage to the economy of the country. The source of energy of the data center will be sourced from the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and one of the unique features of the project is its commitment to uphold sustainability. The high power voltage of Kilinto substation which is as a result of the newly installed infrastructure will ensure that the data center is supplied with power without any interruptions thereby achieving a remarkable expected uptime of up to 99 per cent.

Situated at the Kilinto high voltage substation, the design of the BitCluster Ethiopian Data Center shall meet the needs of the devices of modern mining. The transformers of the data center are being connected and it is expected to start its operations in the month of January the year 2024.
