Ukrainian Railways, known as Ukrzaliznytsia, has embarked on an ambitious endeavor: as well as the construction of the Chop-Uzhhorod European-Gauge Rail Project. This initiative is, at the forefront of advancing Ukraines integration with the European Union by meeting standards and guaranteeing transportation and communication links, between Ukraine and its neighboring European countries.
The Chop connection, located precisely where the border, between Slovakia, Hungary and Ukraine meets serves as the starting point, for this railway extension. As an indispensable link in the regional connectivity, Chop possesses the ambition to transform into a vibrant multimodal transfer corridor.
UZ has an ambitious and realistic plan for Chop-Uzhhorod rail that is based on the thorough analysis of the market and other factors. Through the implementation of a directly run rail service which has the Uzhhorod as a terminal station and many locations in Europe as end stations, the railway plans to minimize travel time for the passengers coming from different areas of Ukraine. Such easy access to modern transport expands not only travellers’ journey but also economy and culture between Ukraine and EU.
Scope
In his address the prime minister of Ukraine has highlighted the importance of the European-gauge railway between Chop and Uzhhorod, which is designed to ensure that trascarpathia’s major regional center is connected with the main European cities by direct rail lines. These cities include Venice, Bratislava, Budapest, Prague, Bucharest, and Dresden. Thus, the most important implication of this immediate route which is between Ukraine and European countries is that it has great potential for tourism, trade and violations (cooperation) between these two parts of Europe.
The project, called “Smart Innovations” after the head of Ukrzaliznytsia Yevhen Liashchenko, has reached the implementation stage. Construction proper is slated for May; in the meanwhile, the preparation and other groundwork for the ongoing and subsequent events is in progress. This rather smart way the company has made presents its readiness for the project completion to the reputable time-line.
The scope of the railway line in Chop – Uzhhorod is all-dimensional, 22 km of European-level railway lines are to be built. The project, among other things, involves the setting up of new tracks while refurbishing and upgrading the existing infrastructure, which includes bridges, stations, and support systems. The rail line will follows a comprehensive strategy which ensures that the safety, efficiency and the whole travel experience is optimized for every passenger.
Fund for the project is a co-operation, with grant from the Connecting Europe Facility being substantial in this respect. Financing the project assigns to the EU the function of the sponsor who supports the development of infrastructure and connectivity in the bordering areas.
Ultimately, the commencement of the “Chop-Uzhhorod” railway project symbolizes Ukraine on the way of getting closer to the European Union being one step further in its integration. By improving connections promoting growth and fostering exchange this railway system not only helps Ukraine but also lays the foundation, for greater harmony, peace and prosperity at a regional level.
