YIT, a North European development and construction company, has secured a contract for the initial phase of the Urban HUB Kaunas project in Lithuania. The contract is valued at approximately €32 million. It has been signed with SBA Urban, a Lithuanian real estate development and investment company.

The Urban HUB Kaunas project is designed by PLH Arkitekter from Denmark. It will also be developed in three stages, encompassing office, sales, and stock office premises with a total area of 70,000m².

Situated adjacent to the Kaunas Free Economic Zone, the new e-commerce campus will include 428 car parks. It will also have 111 spaces equipped with dedicated charging stations for electric vehicles. The project will feature flexible spaces suitable for warehouses, showrooms, cafes, offices, and other businesses. New roads and entrances will be constructed, connecting to the A1 and A2 highways. Thus, it will ensure accessibility for customers and facilitate supply chain logistics.

Urban HUB Kauna: A Sustainable E-commerce Campus

Emphasizing sustainability, the Urban HUB Kaunas project will aim for the ‘BREEAM In-Use Excellent’ certification. The first stage of Urban HUB Kaunas involves the construction of four energy-efficient A++ class buildings. As a result, it will offer nearly 22,000m² of leasable space. Construction work is set to commence this month and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

YIT plans to register the contract in the second quarter of 2023. Thus, it will  mark a significant step forward in the development of this innovative e-commerce campus in Kaunas, Lithuania.
