The Marina Mirage is getting ready for a major transformation. However, It’s not alone as there are also other mega projects going on at The Spit. The Makris Group’s big proposal that was tabled this week got the go-ahead from the Gold Coast City Council’s planning team. The company owners devised a perfect strategy for their $500m transformation project, which they later on pitched to the council for approval.

Spearheaded by billionaire Con Makris, who lives in Adelaide. The team is awaiting a final seal of approval in a meeting to be held on 4th December. Assuming everything goes as planned, they will commence developing a mixed use Elenberg Frasers design. The Makris Group is also negotiating with an internationally-acclaimed and distinguished chain hotel, for the addition of more than 110 resort rooms.

The inputs in the February 2022 plans suggestions are expected to improve the glamour of Marina Mirage. The Makris group want to include the fourth star to their forte which entails a very nice attic that has breathtaking views of the Broadwater.  World-class operators will take charge of the fancy upper floors together with selected Australian boutiques that emphasize well-being and revival.

The construction will be complete by 2027 in readiness for the 2032 Olympic games that will be held in Brisbane. The CEO of the Makris Group, Jason Makris, said that this is in line with the vision of the Australian government to develop ‘The Spit’ as a destination zone for tourism and recreation. Moreover, he stressed that with the state’s support, the Gold Coast is ready to embark on a challenging undertaking that has distinct and high quality performance.

The revival is creating 500 direct construction jobs and 460 operational roles. It comes on the heels of a recently finished 78-berth superyacht marina expansion. This comes after approving the Mantaray Marina and Residences project worth a whooping $300 million. The state also approved the development of the Ritz Carlton hotel which is worth $480 million. Undoubtedly, this is a remarkable era for the Marina Mirage.

After drifting for a couple of years, Marina Mirage now finds itself on its path to glory. As the 2032 Olympics close-in, Gold Coast residents can look forward to a renovated waterfront area. This will not only make it a popular destination on The Spit, the new Marina Mirage will be a gem that puts Queensland on the world map.

The boom will generate about 500 direct construction posts and another 460 operational positions. The completion of an extension to the nearby superyacht marina, with a maximum capacity of 78 berths, has just taken place. This follows the approval of the Mantaray Marina and Residence project valued at over three hundred million dollars. The same authorities also approved the construction of the renowned Ritz Carlton hotel worth $480 million. That is surely an era to be proud of here.

The Marina Mirage has been drifting for years and now it’s catching the right wind. Having in mind that the 2032 Olympics is still on the books, Gold Coasters have something to look forward to. In that case, it will be one of the most sought-after destinations at The Spit.
