In response to the growing commercial activities and increased vehicular traffic in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area, the Anambra State Government has embarked on an ambitious construction project—the Ekwulobia flyover. The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, took a bold step by demolishing over 500 buildings to make way for a dual carriageway and the construction of the flyover bridge.

A recent visit to the town showcases significant progress in the project, much to the delight of the local community, who had earlier expressed concerns about the demolition of their properties. The A.G Vision Construction Company, tasked with handling the project, has already begun drilling in various locations to lay the foundation for the bridge’s pillars.

The Site Engineer, Mr. Nawar Deeb, expressed confidence in their ability to deliver on the job, stating that they have set the project’s duration for 18 months. He praised the support and cooperation the community members have provided, with some actively involved in the construction process.

Initially met with resistance due to the demolition of their buildings, the sentiment in the community has shifted positively, according to Mr. Azubuike Nzechukwu, the President General of Ekwulobia Community. He highlighted that Governor Soludo had personally engaged with the community, clarifying his intentions and garnering their support for the transformative project.

Despite the challenges posed by the demolition, the affected community members have been compensated for their loss, with the majority receiving financial assistance. The project, viewed as a crucial development initiative, has now earned the acceptance and support of the local residents, who eagerly anticipate the positive changes it will bring to their town.

The construction of the Ekwulobia flyover symbolizes Anambra State’s commitment to transformation and progress. As work continues to proceed smoothly, the flyover promises to usher in a new era of development, facilitating better transportation, enhancing commercial opportunities, and ultimately bringing prosperity to the region.
