Inland Rail has unveiled the Seymour-Avenel Road bridge, and construction is set to begin in late 2023. The current Seymour-Avenel Road bridge is not high enough to accommodate double-stacked freight trains, necessitating its replacement by Inland Rail and construction collaborator McConnell Dowell with a taller bridge at the same site.

Revolutionizing Freight Transport with the New Seymour-Avenel Road Bridge

The proposed design showcases a bridge with a 35m span, which stands approximately 3.2m taller than the existing bridge. Additionally, the design incorporates earth embankments and retaining walls that harmonize with the environment and minimize impact on Avenel Road. Importantly, by constructing the new bridge at the same site, it significantly reduces environmental impact.

Inland Rail, a significant project, will revolutionize the transportation of goods across Australia.
