A contract has been awarded for the construction of the new northeast Melton Mowbray distributor road in Leicestershire, East Midlands, England. The contract was awarded to Galliford Try by Leicestershire County Council.
The project received its official green light in March. This was after the council received £49.5 million from the Department for Transport for the project. The total project cost is £115m. This is the value that industry data gatherers erroneously attributed to Galliford Try’s orders for that month.
According to sources, the contractor has officially stated that the amount of its primary construction contract is £85 million.

Between the A606 Nottingham Road at the western side of Melton Mowbray and the A606 Burton Road in the south, Galliford Try will construct a 7.1 km single-lane road, traversing Scalford Road, Melton Spinney Road, A607 Thorpe Road, and B676 Saxby Road to Burton Road.
