The Mesquite solar production plant
The Canadian Solar assembling plant was completed and opened in June 2024 and located in Mesquite, Texas. The factory is 5-GW is used for assembling its latest high-efficiency N-Type Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) photovoltaic (PV) modules. The overall investment was estimated at US$ 250 million and took a workforce of around 1,500 people. Canadian Solar and solar energy company Sol Systems signed a supply deal for Canadian Solarโs US-made bifacial TOPCon TOPBiHiKu7 modules. The company began shipping from the factory earlier this year when it sent its first 700Wp TOPCon modules built in the US to solar distributor Signature Solar.

The Jeffersonville solar PV cell production facility
Canadian Solar has announced the construction of a 5 GW solar PV cell production facility in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Located at the River Ridge commerce centre, the state-of-the-art plant will produce approximately 20,000 high-power modules each day. Canadian Solar will use the solar cells produced at the previously announced 5 GW assembly plant in Mesquite, Texas which is yet to be completed.
The Jeffersonville facility represents a projected investment of more than US $800 million. Additionally, it will create approximately 1,200 skilled high-tech jobs once production is fully ramped up. Production at the Jeffersonville facility is expected to begin by the end of 2025.
