Construction of Ashley Circle and Western Street roundabout begins as improvement is made by The City of Bowling Green. The traffic impact will be minimal as the construction starts, but as the project progresses it will increase.

New roundabout, sidewalk, and an ADA compliant handicap ramp will be featured by the construction

Andy Souza, the City of Bowling Green’s public works director said that “ I know people like to see more construction in the summer, but I’m telling you we’re doing this for the most excellent of the city so we will get people’s safety. The idea for this construction is to put two roundabouts on Western so that traffic can move more efficiently without having all the traffic lights that everyone doesn’t like. The idea is traffic save traffic as possible,”

For the safety of both motorists and pedestrians, it is advisable to use other roads if possible unless there is no other options this would at least lower chances of any kind of accidents and if individual find it as the only road they should be cautious to keep everyone safe.

Once Ashley Circle and Western Street comes to it’s completion this September, the focus would shift to construction of a new roundabout on patrick Way and Western Street.

“With Bowling Green developing each year like it is, we have to be able to meet those requests of how much traffic volume can we control or handle and what we require moving forward so they did a consideration of that and we will be able to know if area will benefit from a roundabout and traffic flow would increase,” this  roundabout to increase the traffic flow,” said the Project Supervisor of the Western Roundabout Project, Tyler Phelps.
