Vantage Data Centers’ AZ1 campus in Goodyear, Arizona, stands as a premier example of high-density sustainable infrastructure, recently hitting a major milestone with the activation of its 64 MW AZ14 facility in 2025. This expansion more than doubled the campus’s previous capacity, pushing the 50-acre site toward its ultimate goal of 176 MW across five state-of-the-art facilities. Designed to handle the intense thermal demands of modern AI, the campus features a closed-loop chilled water system that achieves near-zero water utilization efficiency (WUE), a critical feat in the arid Arizona climate.

While the Goodyear site anchors Vantage’s Western U.S. operations, it is part of a broader national surge in digital infrastructure that connects directly to the massive $500 billion “Stargate” project in Ohio. This ambitious initiative, led by SoftBank and OpenAI, aims to build the largest AI computing complex in history, featuring a 10-gigawatt hub in Piketon, Ohio.

Vantage Data Centers has finished building a new data center in Goodyear, Arizona. This Monday, the business announced the completion of its first 32MW data center on the 160MW facility outside of Phoenix. The Goodyear facility, which spans 50 acres, will eventually house three data centers and more than one million square feet. According to the firm, the campus will feature a closed-loop chilled water system with air-side economizers to decrease energy usage based on outside ambient temperature. According to reports, the system will utilize no continuous water, resulting in a targeted water consumption efficiency (WUE) of near-zero (liters/kW/hr).

Vantage purchased the site in early 2019 and began building the following year. The initial phase of development will consist of a single-story structure that is expected to open in spring 2022.

Vantage data center to expand in North America

“As we continue to develop worldwide, Vantage is also expanding its presence across North America to suit our clients’ growing demands by offering high-quality data centers in important areas,” said Jeff Tench, president of Vantage Data Centers in North America. “Due to its cheap power prices, abundant connectivity, and business-friendly climate, our customers have picked Phoenix as an appropriate site.” This is a good market for hyperscalers, cloud providers, and bigger companies who want a west coast presence for their digital infrastructure needs.”

“We are thrilled that Vantage picked Goodyear as its flagship site in the Southwest.” Design decisions that nearly eliminate the use of water for cooling highlight the company’s dedication to sustainability. Goodyear has positioned itself as a vibrant community by recruiting top technology firms and knowledge-based employment. “We look forward to a long-term cooperation when the first facility opens next year,” stated Vice Mayor Brannon Hampton.
