Manchester’s ongoing urban renewal is poised to transform the cityscape with the Red Bank Riverside project playing a role, in this ambitious vision. The Far East Consortium (FEC) in collaboration with the Manchester City Council (MCC) has selected CR Construction to oversee the development of 895 homes in the Red Bank neighborhood. This project forms part of the £4 billion Victoria North initiative, which aims to foster sustainable communities and breathe new life into the cityscape.

The Red Bank Riverside project, an element of the 390 acre Victoria North endeavor is set to redefine Manchester’s urban landscape. FECs decision to continue their partnership with CR Construction underscores the significance of this phase. The plan encompasses four buildings ranging from nine to 34 stories designed by Hawkins\Brown Architects and Schulze+Grassov in collaboration with Optimised Environments landscape architects. These structures will be located along Dantzic Street, an area within the revitalization zone.

Commending Achievements

A ceremonial signing event held on July 17 marked the start of this phase. Representatives, from FEC and CR Construction came together for this occasion commemorating both the milestone and their ongoing partnership. The event showcased their dedication to delivering notch spaces that cater to Manchester’s increasing housing needs.

Thoughtful Design

In August of 2023, FEC received approval to build 1,551 homes, on plots NT02, NT03 and NT04 along Dantzic Street. Additionally, FEC received planning permission for 3,250 homes in Red Bank as part of their innovative ‘Wild Urbanism’ initiative. This approach emphasizes spaces, biodiversity and sustainable transportation methods in line with Manchester’s goals.

The upcoming development will include three towers standing at 20, 31 and 34 stories high as well as mid-rise nine story building. These structures will integrate into an area offering plenty of green spaces and recreational spots for residents. The goal is to create a blend of city living and natural surroundings that sets a benchmark for residential projects in the urban landscape.

Red Bank Riverside Project’s Economic and Community Influence

As a result, new residents will likely move in. These newcomers will support local businesses. Consequently, they’ll boost the region’s economic vitality.

CR Construction, a subsidiary of China Zhejiang Construction Group (H.K) brings expertise to the table for this project. The company is already involved in the 634 home Victoria Riverside project set to be finished by 2025. CR Constructions participation, in Red Bank Riverside further showcases its dedication to top notch construction and on time project delivery.

Future Plans

BAM will finish preparatory works first. Then, the £210 million Red Bank Riverside phase begins next year. The venture secured Housing Infrastructure Funding in 2019. Consequently, this funding ensures the project moves forward. FEC envisions Red Bank to include 5,000 residences, a school, with 210 spaces and around 67,800 square feet of commercial areas. The development spans across the Red Bank Plateau and Red Bank Viaduct sections each benefiting from planning approvals. The goal of this urban development strategy is to establish a community that is self-sufficient and in line with contemporary living standards.

The Red Bank Riverside initiative marks a milestone in Manchester’s urban revitalization efforts. The project will construct 895 homes and focus on development practices. It stands ready to transform the cityscape. Under the guidance of CR Construction Manchester’s vision for an inclusive and environmentally conscious landscape is steadily taking shape. The project’s evolution requires balancing excitement with careful planning. This balance will ensure it meets its ambitious objectives.
