NEOM has announced a partnership with Asas Al-Mohileb to establish and operate a SAR 700 million ($186 million) ready-mix concrete facility for THE LINE. The multi-plant factory, dedicated to producing concrete, will mainly service the construction of THE LINE.
THE LINE Project
THE LINE is a linear city currently under development in NEOM โ a sustainable region progressing rapidly in northwest Saudi Arabia. The city will stretch across 170 kilometers, from the mountains in NEOM, across the desert valley to the Red Sea. Its innovative mirrored architectural design will tower 500 meters above sea level, and will only span 200 meters wide. According to NEOM, the linear city will be able to accommodate 9 million people on a 34 km2 footprint once fully complete.
The Ready-Mix Concrete Facility
Asas Al-Mohileb, a leading Saudi Arabian construction and engineering company, is currently building the complex of batching plants in NEOM. The construction company will also be operating the facility which is said to be of the capacity to produce over 20,000 cubic meters of ready-mix green concrete per day.
The facility will also incorporate environmental friendly technologies like carbon capture and utilization (CCU) technology and energy-saving solutions.
Since concrete will be an essential material for THE LINEโs substructure and superstructure, the concrete facility has mobilized a fleet of support vehicles in readiness for operations set to commence next month. Operations at the factory are expected to peak in 2025.
In an update, NEOM stated that nearly 1,000 of the 30,000 foundation piles have been placed so far. They however did not state how much actual distance this covers. The establishment of the plant thus comes at a crucial time as construction on THE LINE progresses quickly.

Related Updates
Other updates related to the project include Bloombergโs report in April this year, that the $1.5 trillion projectโs ambition of accommodating 1.5 million residents by 2030 has been scaled down to an anticipated, 300,000 residents. This was from officials close to the project.
The futuristic utopian dream being made real in Saudi boasts environmental conservation, city functions efficiency, and exemplary overall sustainability compared to traditional cities. โNo roads, cars or emissions, it will run on 100% renewable energy and 95% of land will be preserved for nature. People’s health and well-being will be prioritized over transportation and infrastructure, unlike traditional cities.
THE LINE will eventually accommodate 9 million people and will be built on a footprint of just 34 square kilometers. This will mean a reduced infrastructure footprint, creating never-before-seen efficiencies in city functions. The ideal climate all-year-round will ensure that residents can enjoy the surrounding nature. Residents will also have access to all daily essentials within a five-minute walk, in addition to high-speed rail โ with an end-to-end transit of 20 minutes.โ
