The President of the Republic of Togo, West Africa, H.E. President Faure Gnassingbé, has gone into a partnership deal with a UK renewable energy firm BBOXX to deploy 300,000 solar home systems.
Falling in line with the President’s CIZO initiative, BBOXX, a UK firm is proud to have been co-awarded the project, for which it has signed an agreement to implement the solar home systems in Togo in the next five years.
BBOX issued a company statement in which it stated that the government of Togo has outlined its Vision 2030, which is expected to provide the entire Togolese population with access to electricity through a sustainable energy mix.

The current population of Togo is roughly about 7 million people, 700,000 of whom are living without access to the grid, although 66% of the population can at least access a mobile phone.
This partnership will seek to rollout the first 10,000 systems across rural areas in Togo over the next 12 months.
This innovation has successfully been deployed in Pakistan, Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria, South Africa, Cameroon, and Angola.
The beneficiary can charge a television, radio, up to five lights and torches on a 12V battery. The systems are also equipped with smart technology to ensure there is efficient usage of power.
The presidency press release stated that, the CIZO initiative aims to provide massive adoption of mobile payment solutions across rural areas as well as increasing the rural electrification rate from 7% to 40% hence facilitating financial inclusion of rural population
