Major international contractors are bidding for the Saudi Royal Aviation Village, a $2.5 billion specialized aviation complex that is part of the masterplan for King Salman International Airport in Riyadh. The project is therefore a key infrastructure element for the airport’s operational scope and aviation capabilities. Design-build and construction strategies are being considered by contractors. In the meantime, the contract is expected to be awarded in fall 2026 and construction is expected to begin in 2027.
The Saudi Royal Aviation Village will host the operations of the Saudi royal fleet, executive aviation and specialized support services within the airport. In particular, the complex consists of hangar facilities, maintenance facilities and administrative facilities for high-level aviation activities. The project is thus directly contributing to the airport’s role as a leading regional aviation hub.
Major transport projects are making headway across the Middle East with projects such as the Hafeet rail project making headway. Hafeet Rail, a joint venture between Etihad Rail, Oman Rail, and Mubadala Investment Company, will begin trial operations in the final quarter of 2027. As a result, the $3 billion railway system is progressing at a healthy pace in both Oman and the UAE.
