Marriott and CG Hospitality Three-Hotel Development Deal Across Nepal and India: Expansion in Asia

The development marks one of Marriott’s most significant regional luxury expansions with CG Hospitality, adding approximately 450 keys to its South Asia portfolio. All three properties are scheduled for completion by 2031 and are positioned to serve both business and leisure demand across Kathmandu Valley and eastern India’s strategic Siliguri gateway.

The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu

The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu will debut the ultra-luxury brand in Nepal, introducing 150 guestrooms including suites, multiple dining venues, a spa, fitness centre, outdoor pool, and extensive event space exceeding 1,100 m3. The project is expected to anchor Kathmandu’s premium hospitality segment and cater to high-end international tourism and diplomatic traffic.

The Westin Kathmandu

This development will complement the luxury offering with 150 rooms and suites, wellness-focused amenities, a rooftop pool, and over 700 m2 of meeting and banquet space. The property also aligns with Westin’s global positioning around wellness-driven hospitality experiences.

JW Marriott Hotel Siliguri

In India, the JW Marriott Hotel Siliguri will introduce 150 rooms and suites in a key transit and tourism hub connecting Northeast India, Bhutan and Nepal. The hotel will feature multiple dining venues, spa and wellness facilities, and approximately 1,500 m2 of event space, targeting both corporate and MICE demand.

According to Marriott International, the partnership reinforces its strategy to deepen presence in “high-potential markets” across South Asia. The partnership also leverages CG Hospitality’s regional footprint and development expertise. CG Hospitality, part of CG Corp Global, continues to expand its hospitality portfolio across multiple countries and asset classes.

The Marriott and CG Hospitality landmark three-hotel development deal across Nepal and India reflects the former’s growing pipeline in India and neighboring markets. These continue to mainly feature rising middle-class travel demand and cross-border tourism. These factors are also driving sustained hotel investment activity in the larger Asia region as seen with Hyatt’s recent ground-breaking on the new Hyatt Place Semarang Hotel in Indonesia.
