$2 Billion Mozambique’s 6000 Flat Condominium Project Launches on the Outskirts of Maputo

A Chinese group is constructing Mozambique’s 6000 Flat Condominium on the outskirts of Maputo. This is a housing project for young people that was launched on Wednesday by the country’s president . It is expected to cost US$2 billion (€1,850 million).

This ambitious project is located just next to the Costa do Sol neighbourhood. The housing project has already commenced construction by the Chinese company Phoenix International Group. This company is Hong Kong-based and the partnership on the project is as a result of the existing strategic partnership between the Government of Mozambique and the private sector. Also, the project is expected to be completed in two and a half years.

Creation of Employment Opportunities

“The housing project will generate approximately 25,000 employment opportunities. This will greatly contribute to the alleviation of poverty in families of those involved especially in surrounding areas where about 1,500 have already benefited as for now,” stated Daniel Chapo at the launch of the Fenix housing project.

Additionally, the upcoming private development is aimed at building a housing community of a conventional standard especially for the young population and have international and modern design.

Significance of the Project

“The major goal of this undertaking is to enable the provision of adequate housing and a healthy living environment for the younger population. It will be at an affordable cost to all the social groups especially young people. Also, that is why this project entails approximately 6,000 houses or flats of different types. The project will enable everyone to live in a decent home depending on their budget,” the president said.

Furthermore, the president stressed that the new housing policy of the government has been in place since January. He outlined that the policy provides for the promotion and facilitation of national and foreign investment to construct affordable housing complexes for all social levels of the public. This is inclusive of the low-income groups.

Vision and Goal Regarding the Project

“Our vision and goal entails the establishment of a replica of this type and level of housing, or even more suitable. This is planned for throughout the country for each location and the purchasing power of each location. This will be achieved throughout this five-year term that people of Mozambique have entrusted us to lead,” the president emphasized.

An emphasi was made by Daniel Chapo regarding the company tasked with the project indicating that had experience in such developments in Africa.

“We have heard of development ls in our sister country Angola such as the condominiums in Talatona and the other projects in this friendly and sister country. It is this company that executed the project. That is the reason why we invited them to do a similar project but with better quality and with all due respect for engineering and, above all, the environment here in Maputo and all over Mozambique.”

Other Facilities in Mozambique’s 6000 Flat Condominium Project

Other than the housing component of the Mozambique’s 6000 Flat Condominium project, it will also involve the construction of shopping center, restaurant, and towers, inclusive of a structure with the panoramic view of the whole of Maputo City.

No Lagoons to be Touched

The lagoons in the area will not be touched and instead will be used for boat trips, kids’ playground, a fitness circuit throughout the condominium so that everyone can do fitness exercises in this amazing neighbourhood.

Additionally, it will have a health centre, school, sports field, football pitch, a community centre among many other facilities.
