Downtown Kannapolis is experiencing a revitalization of its neighborhood, through the development of the 200 Main Apartment Project and other developments coming to the area. Lansing Melbourne Group, a development partner based in Florida, has laid the foundation stone for the 200 Main apartment which will be built at the corner of Main Street and Cannon Baller Way. The estimated investment in the project is $21 million.

Peter Flotz of Lansing Melbourne Group (LMG) gave more insights into the design of the project. He said that 200 Main will be made up of 78 apartments for residential use in a seven-story building, and approximately 3,500 square feet of retail ground floor spaces. It will also include a front walkway linking the 200 Main and Vida and  will occupy a total of 90,000 square feet.

The 200 Main Apartment Project will be situated close to another downtown revitalization project in Kannapolis called Vida Kannapolis. The Vida Kannapolis project which has been completed was also handled by LMG and it could be seen as a huge success according to Flotz and the Mayor of Kannapolis, Darrell Hinnant. Vida is made up of 289 housing units with an estimated $56 million as an investment total.

So far the city has made an investment of around $113 million into the downtown revitalization projects. Other developments around the area include the new Atrium Health Ballpark, renovation of multiple downtown blocks for retail spaces, and the revamping of the streetscape on West Avenue along with a public parking deck.

Kannapolis city leaders are thrilled with the  projects and developments taking place within the city, and it is believed that the Construction of the 200 Main Apartment Project will be the next step for the City and LMG to activate and revitalize the downtown area; thereby, attracting a lot of positives to the community.

Kannapolis Mayor, Darrell Hinnant said, “We look forward to welcoming the new residents and business owners of 200 Main. It has already been a pleasure meeting the many people who have already moved into VIDA.”
