The last solar panel has been installed at the Hornet Solar facility in Swisher County, Texas. The developers of the project, Vesper Energy, announced earlier today, celebrating the milestone for the 600 MW plant. Hornet Solar plant will generate enough electricity to power 160,000 homes in the state yearly. While the project is completed for the most part, there are still various installations going on that are expected to be completed by spring this year, when it will go online. What’s more, the project has a total of 1.36 million bifacial modules that have been installed. They are mounted on single-axis trackers and are connected to Oncor Electric’s transmission system in ERCOT.
Details on the Hornet Solar Plant in Texas
Blattner was the contractor in charge of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and began work after a US$590 debt package was secured to finance the Hornet Solar park. Furthermore, the facility has been built on a site that spans six square miles in the Texas Panhandle. The power generated from the facility has been contracted to four off-take partners through individual Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPA’s).
