Australian firm Glaass has been awarded a subcontract in NEOM’s $5 billion Trojena Dams project. In an official statement, the firm noted its contract scope covering around 2,800 field workers. Their main aim entails providing comprehensive quality, health, safety, and environmental services for the project. NEOM awarded Webuild a $5 billion contract in late 2023. The deal covers the construction of three dams that will form a freshwater lake for the Trojena ski resort. Furthermore, the dam is expected to be 145 meters high and 475 meters long at its crest. It will be built using 2.7 million cubic meters of roller compact concrete (RCC). Moreover, some 650,000 cubic meters of RCC will be used to make a dam within the planned lake. This will create an island below the water level. The kidney-shaped dam will be 38 meters high and 700 meters long.

The Scope of Implementation on the Trojena Dams Project
The implementation of the Trojena Dams project entails the construction of three lakes. The second dam, the kidney-shaped dam, will be connected to the nearby Lake Village by an underwater tunnel. Furthermore, it will be surrounded by the Enchanted Forest, the landscaping, and other attractions within the dam. The third dam will be 65 meters high and 490 meters long at its crest. It will also be constructed using 4.15 million cubic meters of rockfill.

The works also include the lakebed line and the foundations for the Bow Building. The Bow Building is a concrete structure at the end of the lake that will overhang the valley below and entail a hotel. Once completed, the Enchanted Forest will be one of the attraction sites that the dam landscape will be able to offer. Furthermore, the three dams are expected to create the central lake at the Trojena Mountains resort, which is hosting the 2029 Winter Asian Games.
