The Rideau Registry, a 288-unit residential rental complex linked with the CF Rideau Centre, has begun construction, under Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited (CF) in Ottawa. The CF Rideau Centre is Ottawa’s largest and busiest commercial mall.
The City Registry Office is a historic city structure. With the addition of extensive public realm upgrades and better entry to the shopping center, the Registry Office will be transformed into a contemporary cafe-bistro. Further, with its connection to CF Rideau Centre, the building will have unmatched access to the city’s dining, entertainment, and public transportation options, including the O Train.
The ambitious rehabilitation effort began seven years ago. CF invested CA$ 360 million to remodel and rejuvenate the CF Rideau Centre. Additionally, it has advanced to the debut of rental homes. This includes a total renovation, a four-level enlargement, a new dining hall, and other improvements and upgrades. In addition, fresh public art, and a redone pedestrian bridge over Rideau Street.
Furthermore, the renovation also included the addition of a new wing that included the old Ogilvy Building. The ancient Registry Office building will be included as a key component of the residential project through preservation and integration into the new homes.
