The construction of Japoma stadium in Douala, Cameroon is currently on track and progressing on well. Its completion will ensure that they host the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Project Manager, Zeki Bozkurt confirmed the reports and said that though only 20% of the work has been done so far, work is progressing according to plan and the stadium will be completed by 20th September 2018.

Out of 1,888 pillars, 1,660 have already been erected while the slabs of the main tribune on which the chairs will be affixed have also been constructed.

Public Relations Officers for Yenigün Construction Industry and Trade Inc., the Turkish company in charge of the construction work said that most of the difficult works have already been done.

Facilities in the stadium

Once complete the stadium will have a capacity of 50,000 seats and will be covered with a semi translucent material on the roof and seats will be fold-able. It will have facilities like restaurants, a media room, a public announcement system as well as telecommunication system and will be surrounded by a concrete fence with metallic gates. There also will be two standby generators to supply energy in case of power failure and the construction company is giving a guarantee of 10 years.

Since 1973, Yenigün Construction has successfully completed many projects in Turkey and abroad. Apart from their head office in Ankara, they also have offices in Turkey in Istanbul and abroad in the USA, Saudi Arabia, Russia and Poland.
