The construction works for four pavilions for the Al Shindagha Museum in Dubai that will display pieces of great cultural, as well as historical value, have been completed. Construction works for the four pavilions were carried out by ACCIONA Cultura. The Dubai Municipality (DM) selected the firm for the project. 

The Al Shindagha Museum project covers a total area of 35,000 meters squared and it boasts a total exhibition area of 7,980 meters squared. It features themed pavilions that include several clustered historic houses. The pavilions are The House of Poetry, Life on the Land, Traditional Food House, and Traditions. Each Pavilion focuses on a topic that relates to Dubai’s culture as well as history.

ACCIONA designed the House of Poetry and Traditional Food House pavilions. On the other hand, the Life on the Land and Traditions Pavilion is based on Ralph Appelbaum Associates‘ design.

An overview of the Al Shindagha Museum pavilions

The Traditions pavilion features four houses covering an exhibition area of 2,950 meters squared. The Life on the Land pavilion features 10 houses and covers a total exhibition area of 3,280 meters squared. On the other hand, the Traditional Food House covers a total exhibition area of 450 meters squared. Lastly, the House of Poetry pavilion will feature a dynamic exhibition of 1,300 meters squared.

The Al Shindagha Museum Project embraces advanced technology for an enhanced experience. Thus, the project combines participatory, innovative experiential, and interactive technologies. These technologies are through immersive as well as multisensory video installations alongside project mapping. Additionally, the technologies used include informative graphics as well as traditional objects.
