Southern Housing Group has agreed to construct 236 affordable homes in Wickside, Tower Hamlets, London. The agreement will significantly enhance the borough’s supply of energy-efficient affordable]9housing.
Heat and hot water will be provided by air source heat pumps in the homes. The green credentials of the development are also demonstrated in the project’s approach to transportation and landscaping. An extensive ‘linear park’ will run alongside the canal, connecting Olympic Park to Victoria Park, as part of the district’s urban greening.
Southern Housing Group’s Head of Acquisitions and Partnerships, James Price, said of the transaction, “We are excited to be able to bring 236 new affordable homes in Tower Hamlets. The group already owns and manages over 2,000 homes there.” The excellent location near Victoria Park, Olympic Park, and the Hertford Union Canal piqued our interest in this project. Hackney Wick is a historic, dynamic, and rapidly changing area of East London, and Wickside will significantly improve the area’s quality of life.
