Recently the cornerstone for the Ya Fatou Njie Market in the Talinding North Ward, Gambia was laid. Talib Ahmed Bensouda, the mayor of the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) carried out out the action. This signifies the start of the construction of the market the cost which is US$ 129,270.
This works are a component of the KMC program for developing infrastructure and expanding the Ya Fatou Njie Market. The project is supported by the Area Metropolitana de Barcelona and the Mbolo Association. The latter is a local group working to bring development to the doorsteps of Gambian citizens.

Bensouda expressed happiness in his remark on what he called a “milestone development” in the municipality, particularly Talinding. The KMC leader thanked everyone who helped behind the Ya Fatou Njie Market project’s implementation. He thanked, especially, his development partners in Barcelona and the Mbolo Association in The Gambia for their financial support.

When finished, the Ya Fatou Njie Market will significantly contribute to the socioeconomic development of the neighborhood. According to Mai Colley the market will undoubtedly assist the sellers in operating their businesses. The president of Talinding Market Committee also expressed her appreciation for the advancement in the KMC leadership.
On the other hand, the councilor for Talinding North Ward, Babucarr Mansally applauded KMC and its collaborators for carrying out this crucial initiative. He said there is a greater need for the job to be completed promptly as long as funding is available.
Musa Badjie claimed that there is no need to replace the council’s leadership in the upcoming local government elections. Badjie is the National Assembly Member (NAM) for the Talinding Constituency. He explained that Mayor Bensouda’s significant contributions to the municipality’s growth were the justification.
