The construction works on Anwia-Nkwanta to Obuasi road in Obuasi Municipality, Ashanti Region, Ghana, is 80% complete according to Mr. Ernest Owusu-Ansah a Resident Engineer of the Ghana Highway Authority.
The latter is a governmental entity mandated with the responsibility for the administration, control, development, and maintenance of the West African country’s trunk road network-related facilities. Ghana’s trunk roads total up to about 13,367 km which is the equivalent of 33% of the country’s total road network.
Work done so far in detail
Mr. Owusu-Ansah made the revelation when Simon Osei Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister visited the project site during his two days tour to ongoing projects in the region saying,
“Majority of the work on this project has been done so far, with 23 kilometers out of the 28 kilometers completed. The remaining five-kilometer stretch leading to the Obuasi Township is being dualized to reduce the traffic congestion on that part of the road, and we expect the works to be completed soon as well.”

Message to the contractor
The resident engineer expressed satisfaction with the progress of work so far and commended the contractor, JOSHOB Construction Company Limited (“JOSHOB”), one of Ghana’s leading construction companies, for the efficient manner he was working to complete the works ahead of schedule i.e. by 2023.
Minister Mensah on the other hand urged the contractor to pay equal attention to quality as timeous delivery. He also advised other contractors working on other road projects within the region to emulate Joshop.
