Construction of Mount Hermon Apartments in Florida begins

Mount Hermon Apartments, an affordable senior housing project is now underway in the Fort Lauderdale municipality of Broward county, Florida. Housing Trust Group (HTG) and Mount Hermon African Methodist Episcopal Church have formed a partnership to build the seven-story property.

According to HTG’s president, Matthew Rieger there has been a nationwide demand for age-restricted facilities in recent times. He pointed out that this increased demand was fueled mostly by economic and demographic trends. Therefore, the company expects the Mount Hermon Apartments to help meet the need for affordable residential options in Broward County.

The location of the Mount Hermon Apartments project is at 750 NW Fourth St. Therefore the property is in close proximity to Interstate 95, which is roughly one mile away from downtown Fort Lauderdale. Future residents will also have access to the Brightline Fort Lauderdale train station which is within walking distance of the property. In addition, it’s only about 7 miles away from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Development plans for Mount Hermon Apartments

The Mount Hermon Apartments project was planned as a seven-storey building consisting of 104 units. The property will feature a mix of one and two-bedroom units ranging from 650 to 950 square feet. However, some of the apartments will be designated for individuals from ages 62 and above. While the rest of the units will be reserved for earners at or below 25 and 60% of the area median income. The rent will range from $425 to $1,225 monthly.

Mount Hermon Apartments will feature common area amenities, such as a swimming pool, fitness center, clubroom, and outdoor gathering space. Additionally, residents will enjoy access to 24-hour assistance service, adult literacy training, and a resident assurance check-in program. The apartment will also boast light housekeeping, grocery shopping, and laundry services. The developers expect the project to be ready for occupancy towards the latter part of 2024.

HTG Gomez Construction is the general contractor for the Mount Hermon Apartments project while REPRTWAR is offering architectural services. B. Pila Design is in charge of interior design, and Thomos Engineering will provide both civil engineering and landscape architecture.
