Invenergy has announced that its Hardin II Solar Project has commenced commercial operation. Located in Ohio, the project is expected to generate 150MW of clean energy. As announced last month, Meta is expected to purchase renewable energy from the solar farm. Moreover, the project represents additional energy generation capacity in Hardin County, Ohio. The increased energy supply is expected to enhance the reliability of the area’s energy grid, a commendable feat. Michael Kaplan, Invenergy’s senior VP of development, noted his appreciation to all involved to ensure the project’s success.
“We are grateful to work alongside the Hardin County community and our project partners to bring Hardin II Solar to fruition,” he said. “As energy demand continues to rise, committed partners like Meta are helping Invenergy bring more clean energy online.” The company notes that this has not been done, as it has increased its solar energy portfolio in Ohio. In the next year, Invenergy anticipates operation at Hardin III Solar. Furthermore, two more solar projects are expected to begin construction in 2025.

The Significance of the Hardin II Solar Project
The commercial operation of the Hardin II solar project is expected to be of utmost significance, especially in supporting Meta’s energy goals. Urvi Parekh, Global head of Energy at Meta, noted that the company is invested in ensuring a 100% transition to renewable energy. “Meta continues to invest in opportunities that support our efforts to match our electricity use with 100 percent clean and renewable energy. We take another step in achieving our energy goals through Hardin II Solar’s Environmental Attribute Purchase Agreement. Moreover. It helps bring more economic benefits to project communities and delivers more reliable energy to the local grid.” Invenergy’s solar projects also significantly contribute to local economies. These include supporting public schools, emergency services, and infrastructure. The recently completed solar project is expected to create over 400 construction jobs and provide more than $78 million in investments.
