Nyasa Big Bullets, the country’s football powerhouse, has obtained 13 hectares of property in Mpemba, Blantyre, where the team plans to build its football facilities. The property, 7 kilometres from Blantyre’s commercial centre, was announced on Tuesday, December 28. According to the team’s vice-president, Fleetwood Haiya, they want to build a stadium, two training grounds, a full clubhouse, and other necessary amenities. It is expected to save the club approximately K30 million in renting fees once it is done.

Nyasa Big Bullet’s Plans with the Project

The acquiring of the site, according to Haiya, is one of the commitments made by the Nyasa Big Bullets Board to develop a stadium and clubhouse. Although the country and the globe are experiencing economic challenges due to CoVID-19, he said the Board — lead by its president Konrad Burkle — believed it was appropriate to keep the commitment they made because the structures will help save as well as generate money.

Other amenities will be available for lease to other businesses or people within the property. Suzgo Nyirenda, the Bullets’ chief executive officer, stated that construction will begin in March 2022 and will be completed by June at the very least. For one, bullets director of supporters Stone Mwamadi praised the Board for acquiring the property, calling it proof that they are dedicated and ready to follow through on their commitments. He stated that acquiring a stadium was one of the goals that every Bullets fan had hoped for the team to achieve.

Meanwhile, Archibald Kasakura, a former Nation Publications Limited and Times Group writer, has been appointed as the new general secretary of the Nyasa Big Bullets national supporters committee, succeeding Mabvuto Chiwambo, who quit three months ago. Kasakura, a well-known news commentator, has been hired on an interim basis for six months, with the possibility of his employment being renewed based on performance. Kasakura praised the Bullets’ Board of Directors and supporters committee for entrusting him with the role, promising to work with the present leaders to make the supporters committee more lively. Mwamadi, the director of supporters, explained that they opted to hire Kasakura because he has been a fan of the team since he was a youngster.
