The facility’s manager, Bartlett, a Missouri-based firm, said that the factory will have an annual processing capacity of roughly 38.5 million bushels and will begin construction in 2022. The US$325 million factory will manufacture soybean meal and refined soybean oil, which will be utilized as feedstock in the production of sustainable fuels, culinary items, and animal feeds, according to the firm. According to the firm, the factory will create around 50 permanent employment and process approximately 110,000 bushels each day.

Montgomery County’s board of commissioners recently approved the company’s receipt of county-issued industrial revenue bonds to help fund the project. Furthermore, the firm is likely to earn tax credits under the state’s High-Performance Incentive Program. “This is a significant milestone for our project, enabling infrastructure investment in Kansas that will speed the country’s transition to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable transportation system. We appreciate the county commissioners’ understanding of the long-term advantages that this facility will bring by increasing markets for regional farmers and agribusinesses while also promoting economic growth in Montgomery County and southeast Kansas. With high demand for soybean products, we look forward to our crushing facility helping agricultural families in the Midwest and playing an important part in many supply chains, including sustainable diesel generation,” said Bartlett President, Bob Knief.

“Agriculture and renewable energy industries are significant economic drivers in Kansas, and I am delighted to see Bartlett understand how excellent this site is for their future activities. I’m certain that Bartlett’s new project will be a huge success and have a big economic impact on the area and our state as a whole, thanks to Kansas’ great infrastructure and bright workforce “Kansas Governor Laura Kelly stated.
