Plans are underway for the design and development of a beautification, afforestation and landscaping project at the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD).

The project is planned by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones ( OPAZ), the company responsible for supervising the SEZAD, the free zones in Sohar, Salalah, Al Mazunah and any other economic zone or free zone.

Scope of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) Beautification, Afforestation and Landscaping Project

The first phase of the project will feature landscaping, afforestation, and beautification works throughout different locations. These different locations are distributed on Sultan Qaboos street which stretches over 16 kilometres.

The works for the project, with an estimated value of well about RO 2.3 million which translates to roughly about $5.95 million, also include pavements of the Airport Street stretching over 4.5 kilometres, three roundabouts, as well as the Al Salamah Roundabout.

Furthermore, they include a service road within the exhibition area that covers 4 kilometres with the roundabout and other construction works for various public facilities that include but are not limited to green spaces for children’s activities as well as family gatherings.

Space that could be used for different social, sports, and cultural activities as well as two new parks in the commercial district namely, the Rock Garden District and the Al Saada neighbourhood park will be delivered as part of the project.

All the spaces will be irrigated through a modern system that is also a part of the construction works for the project.
